Yellow Journalism: On Maria Ressa’s Stupid Lies!

It’s just so disappointing to know that there are people out there (especially those who are outside the country) who are extremely reacting about Maria Ressa being arrested. FYI: It’s not President Duterte’s fault why Maria Ressa was arrested! Someone filed a case against her because she wrote an article that manifested wrong info about that person! In other words, she wrongfully maligned that person! You people outside Ph don't have the right to judge the President because you don't even know the whole fact! DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE REACTING! DON'T BE ONE-SIDED AND DON’T BE BIASED! What a shame!

I’ve also read different articles about the case of Maria Ressa and here are the condensed facts:
ü The case was filed by a private person who was wrongfully maligned by an article of Rappler. He requested the article to be taken down but instead, they updated the article against the person.
ü The decision was handed down in February 12 so she had a full day to file for bail but she did not. Instead, she feasted on mass media coverage maligning the case to favor their stand against the government.
ü The whole case took 5 years and started way before Duterte's term. So it is not Duterte Admin motivated.
ü  The whole case went through the Justice system of the Philippines.
ü It is not the President nor the gov't who filed the cyber libel case against her. The complainant is a private citizen you offended who is not in any way connected to this admin. The complaint against her was filed way back 2012--years before Duterte got elected.
ü Cyber libel is a bailable offense in the Philippines.
ü She could have quietly posted bail prior to her arrest--but of course, that wouldn't be dramatic and it will not create much impact in the international community, right?
ü There are thousands of media men in this country who continue to incessantly criticize, even demonize, the current admin--yet, are equally unharmed and are not facing any legal case!

Furthermore, the article of NewYork Times  is such a pain in the a** for it is very prejudiced and it obviously favors Maria Ressa. Also, on their Facebook post, I can read the irrelevant and foul comments about the President. Seriously, before you holier-than-thou Americans and Europeans react, dig first the facts! Maria Ressa has her freedom of speech but it is not right to overstep other’s right just because you have the right to speak out your mind! It is so clear that what she did was a form of libel so it’s against the law!

Again, you people outside Ph don't have the right to judge the President because you don't even know the whole fact! DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE REACTING! DON'T BE ONE-SIDED AND DON’T BE BIASED! Another FYI: Democracy in the Philippines is so much alive that’s why yellow journalism is rampant!
