Librarian's Confession #1

I would like to share my story. I guess it is sad and happy at the same time. I dunno. We're called as Faculty Non-teaching Personnel but I feel belittled when they call me as just part of the staff. Why?

Although I thank God that we have this considerable salary that is the same with the Faculty's,  the only saddest part is... I still feel like, I am just their slave.

THE DOER OF ALL!

Hahhahaha.. but when I am in my library, it feels like I'm in my own home. I don't care if I always carry weighty books. I'm super okay with it! I feel like I'm a librarian slash PORTER! but I am still proud of myself even though I feel like I am not appreciated.

ROMANCE?! Do you want romance?

I love all my students even though they are all naughty. In the ACTION scene, I'm also a little strict but I want them to enjoy when they're inside the library and at the same time, I also want to instill in them the value of discipline.

Do you want HORROR?! I also met angry parents and that's terrifying! That's why as a librarian, I must be flexible all the time. I hope that I have done everything that I could to make them happy.

Thank you so much for sharing your confession. We all know that this is the typical scenario that we librarians really face each day (specifically here in the Philippines). It's sad but what we can only do is to keep the fire burning and let other people know our real worth as pillars of change by showing them how relevant librarians are when it comes to instruction, research, and extension.

I really love how you deal with difficulties! You are such a STRONG LADY! I commend your passion for our craft. I strongly believe that your love for librarianship will surely illuminate and inspire others! God bless you more and more! <3
