Say Yes to DepEd Librarians!
I think it's a big insult to us, Registered Librarians seeing Non-Librarians taking our positions. It seems that all our efforts like earning the bachelor's degree, passing the Licensure exam, and finishing the graduate studies are useless because we're deprived from doing the things that we must be doing. DepEd Philippines , we want justice but we need your explanation first.
LIBRARJUAN's ADVICE
We're absolutely vulnerable but we opt for detrimental challenges because we know that life is all about taking risks. Taking risks means finding out what's beyond. Finding out what's beyond means living your life! <3
LIBRARJUAN's ADVICE
I think it's always right to begin your statement with "I think" or I believe" if it's your opinion and learn the proper citation if it's not yours. 👍📚📖
GOOD NEWS: SMCC Learning Resource Center's Electronic Sources Room is already functional! You can now search information sources online for your research, assignments, and other school-related tasks. <3
...just always remember that according to Neil Gaiman, “Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.” Don't be afraid to ask for our REGISTERED LIBRARIANS' assistance when it comes to evaluating the accuracy, reliability, authoritativeness, and currency of the information sources online! We're trained to do these things! <3
..and one more thing... Games and Social Networking Sites are strictly not allowed! :)
During a Library Orientation...
Pupil: Cher, si kuan cher giaway ni kuan cher... Gipakaon siya ug hugaw nga kuan cher.. (mentally challenged daw ang giaway)
Ako: Why did you do that? Don't you know that it's bullying? It is not right for you to hurt him just because he's like that. Does that make you a better person? I wanna share my personal experience before.. When I was young, I was extremely bullied... Wag niyong gawin yan. Di nyo alam ang pinagdadaanan ng tao. What if kayo ang nasa sitwasyon niya? (Ambot ug nganong nakaEnglish ug nakaTagalog ko?)
All: (Silent Mode. Siguro nagreflect sila)
Other Pupils: Kana gyud sya cher. Palaaway kaayo...
Ako: Enough. Wag nyo siyang awayin. Bullying pa rin yang ginagawa niyo.. We don't really know... Siguro ganyan siya kasi may problema siya na di nyo alam...
All: (Silent Mode again. Nagreflect na pud sila, maybe)
Ako: Okay.. Let's move on... 😭
Librarian ko o Guidance Counselor?
SMCC-Learning Resource Center Best Practice:
"Anti-Tambay Policy"
In order to enlighten our users about the relevance of a library or an information center, we implement this kind of practice so that the users will do something fruitful or beneficial to their studies. We always make sure that when they are inside the library, they must do something intellectual like doing research, answering assignments, and other school-related activities. If they don't have something to do in the library, we require them to read a periodical article, story, or just a part of a book. After reading, we also require them to make a written reflection out of that article or story. If they will not do it, we will send them out from the library. It's our way to augment their literacy and empower them through reading! <3
