Librarian's Confession #2
From: Paltikk
I am a professional librarian. I am currently working in a government library. I would like to confess about my co-worker.
That colleague of mine is a smart and quiet librarian. She's new here actually. At first, she's into the job assigned to her. But after just a week, she started doing something I really did not expect.
She's no longer into the job.
She's no longer following her job description. According to my reliable source, this colleague of mine is busy playing games in her mobile phone, Facebooking, etc.
I already warned her, actually. But she keeps on doing it over and over again. She is my friend that's why I don't want to burn bridges with her. But I want her to learn a lesson.
What shall I do?
LibrarJuan's Advice:
If you're the head, you must not tolerate her. You must do the right thing. Of course, you need to approach her and talk to her calmly that it is not appropriate for her to play games or use the Internet irresponsibly during her duty hours.
If you're not the head, I think you can tell your boss about it so that she can make some actions regarding that issue because from the very first place, you've already warned her.
You know you've already done your part as a friend and as a co-worker. If she won't learn from her mistakes, let her be. Let your head use his/her iron fists. I believe that you can't change a person who is reluctant to change. All I can say is... you mind your own business and focus on being productive. :)
